A newbie (not n00b) looking for a guild...
I haven't played guild wars yet therefore i'm a newbie i'm looking forward to playing in the april betaweekend and have been trying to find as much information i can about the game. A little background on me, I'm 18 years of age, I live in the United States of America. I'm not new to MMORPGs I've been a long player of D2 but recently retired, I also used to play Phantasy Star Online. I'm willing to answer anymore questions that you mite have.

Well you should maybe learn about GW a little before joining a guild.
I think most guild leaders try to make small guilds but with excellent players then instead of crowding it with bad players. Make sense? |

I'd say take a look around the Guild Wars Guru sight first, see what you can learn, browse through the forums, and post a lot of questions to see what you can find out about the game first. I know at least that I will be looking for players in-game now that we have a base of players built up, and I'm interested in seeing how strong players are during missions and arena battles. There are a lot of people around here who are willing to help (me included) so that you have a general idea of what's going on and what you should do once the April BWE rolls around.

You salvage items you get in PvE with a kit and get material to make things like armor.

A little more info!
Hi and welcome in the GW Community!
I just wanted to add here some more info about the salvaging. Some items you gain like monster shields and such can't be used by you and are only salvage items. To salvage those you can do what Lansing already wrote. Though there are also High Salvageable items as also some rare items with attributes and stuff (yellow text on them mostly but not always) which could content runes, weapon upgrades as also could give you more common or rare crafting materials then normal things. Those should be salvaged by a Expert Salvaging kit not by a normal one. Example: you are using a normal salvaging kit and you get 1 bolt of raw cloth, you use a expert kit instead and you get 4 - 5 of them and maybe something else too. If you would like to, you can add me to your friendslist in the april beta and send me a whisper when you see me online so we can wander around a bit together or do some missions and stuff. This way I would be able to explain more stuff to you as also show you a bit around in the game and help you with some quests or builds for PvP. I'm in GW since the first world preview so, I should know what I do or what I say by now. My Main Character has the name Dumeka Shoren. |

I've been playing this since WPE and I still feel like a newbie at times, as there's a LOT I still don't know about the game. Did my first GvG battle at the weekend and didn't really have a clue what I was doing (though we won ). I also find the Tombs maps difficult to know what to do and not enough info is provided.
I really hope the game ships with a decent manual or that the online help will be decent. Good fansites do help as they post guides etc. |

bouncing soulx, welcome to the wonderful world that is Guild Wars. Like lots of others have said here, we're all still learning about the game. If you can't find Dumeka online, you're welcome to add me too... Jade Moonfire, and I/we would be more than happy to run around with you. Also, if you're still looking for a guild, or just another place to hang out, give us a holler at www.fastguild.com. We'd love to have you. ^.^ |

~NBK~ is always looking for first class members. Stop on by www.nbkelite.com and check us out. (if you haven't already) We've recently gone from a DF2 squad to a multi-gaming group. Several of our members have been playing Diablo 2 for quite some time, so we're not strangers to RPG games.
Our reason for existence? To make friends, have fun, and do some serious killin'! LOL We're primarily a US based group, but we've got guys in Europe, India, and Canada as well. For communications we use TS. |
